Landscape after landscape
I do love the landscape alcohol ink technique! I played and played with this one, wiped it almost clean and came up with a foggy looking background that I couldn't resist finishing! Such a fun technique I learned from Tim Holtz's online Creative Chemistry class!

Well, yippee for Yupo! This is a real different type of cardstock to do all sorts of yummy things on it. Day 5 was a challenge to me. Yes, anyone can accomplish some very creative tags just by taking Tim Holtz's online Creative Chemistry 103 classes! Just remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

CC 103 Day 2
Monday, August 1, 2016
Wow! I haven't blogged forever it seems! Life has taken me around and around and back again. After a stressful year of becoming a Grandma for the fourth time but to a baby boy that was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, basically a half a heart. After much worry and prayers we have been blessed with the best case scenario for this condition! He is 10 months old now and full of piss and vinegar! Standing at the foot of his bed after his second open heart surgery, when he was just 5 months old, I received a phone call from the nursing home in which I had just placed my Mother 3 weeks prior. They said she needed hospice so I rushed 1 1/2 hrs to her bedside only to lose her the next morning. Needless to say I had lost my mojo! But through time and prayers and then since Tim Holtz decided to teach CC 103 it got me up and running again! And boy does it feel good! This was day 1 of classes and out of respect for Tim I cannot discuss the techniques but I can display my work! I decided to combine 2 of the techniques in my card below my tags. I love how it turned out! So FUN! I look forward to class every day now! If you haven't taken his classes before I highly recommend them! CC 101, CC 102, and now CC 103! Woo Hoo! Thanks Tim for getting me out of my funk!

July Tag of 2014
Well, nothing like waiting until the last moment! I just finished my July tag up for the Tim Holtz tags of 2014! I added an anchor and chain just to mix things up a bit! I found a wooden anchor and decided to apply the painted industrial technique from Tim's Compendium of Curiosities Volume 3 book to it. I did not have any utee but I was able to make the sand with just white, antique linen, and black embossing powders, distress glitter and glossy accents. I used a different embossing folder, I think it is distressed bubbles. Since I did not have the spring greenery die cut I used different pieces from the Fall and Christmas greenery dies that I had. This was a lot of different techniques in one tag! It was fun to make! I am just glad I got it done in time to post on Tim's blog! www.timholtz.com
Painted Industrial Challenge
I am entering into Linda Ledbetter's challenge on her blog www.lindaledbetter.com featuring Tim Holtz's book Compedium of Curiosities, Volume 3. You should order your own volume on Tim's blog, www.timholtz.com, so that you could participate too!!!! This challenge is all about painted industrial and the technique can be found on page 46 in Tim's book! Out of respect for him the technique will not be discussed on my blog. Check out Linda's blog to see the many different versions of painted industrial that the designers made. I love this technique and felt a steampunk theme was quite fitting for the technique. There is also a $50.00 gift certificate being offered from Inspiration Emporium as they are sponsoring this challenge! They are a wonderful online supply store and can be found at www.Inspirationemporium.com so go give them a visit whenever your supplies are low! I really love how this turned out so I had to display it in a shadow box. In fact it is for sale in my etsy shop https://www.etsy.com/shop/BlueRoomInk?ref=si_shop, as of today!

Playing with texture and canvases
I was making my one daughter a birthday 10 x 10canvas with a 5 x 7 canvas on canvas effect and mistakenly used copic markers to create a chevron design underneath the white section on the right side. I decided against the marker design and continued to try to cover it up with acrylic white paint only to discover that it will continue to bleed through. I started over for her gift. The daughter with her new pup is the finished product. I should have taken a side view to show the dimension of the canvas on the canvas. Then I didn't want to just throw the other canvas away so I tried painting over the open white area with distress white paint and even tried a coat of distress stain. I was not liking the color so I thought why not add more color instead of whites! I continued to add areas of different colors of distress paint and spritzed them with water to make them bleed and dabbed them dry. I then used Tim Holtz's stencils with vintage photo distress ink to layer the background. I had 6 little canvases that I layed next to one another. I printed my other daughter and son-in-law's engagement photo in sepia onto tissue paper and modge podged it to these six canvases. I like how the tissue paper picked up the texture in the canvases as well as the seams between the canvases as they appear brick like as the bricks are the background of the photograph. I used pop dots to raise the flat canvases off of the larger 10 x 10 canvas to give it more dimension. I love how it turned out! The left side was done by using various distress paints, taping off a design with painters tape and then painting white over the entire canvas. When you pull off the tape, voila! The design is now in your distress paint colors that you used! I cannot for the life of me remember the web site that I got this idea from so I apologize to that person...thank you for sharing your inspiration as it truly did inspired me to create these girfts!

Configuration Box
I made this configuration box at my last weekend crop! Loved making it. I have had it for awhile and just needed some uninterrupted time to put it together! I love how it turned out. I took Tim's stopwatch idea for the cover....which I love! The embossed gears on the metal sheet is just awesome texture! I highly recommend everyone make one of these some time. Everyone asked me what I would do with it...I say I look at it and drool! Spoken like a true paper art lover! It stands on a table in my dining room and I never get tired of seeing it! I call it an "adult dollhouse!" Ha!
