Baby Book for Shower Gift

My daughter-in-law is having her first baby shower this Saturday so I thought I had better make something to add to the gift that I am giving her. This is what I came up with. I couldn't find the baby word book in any of my craft stores so I designed it on my gypsy and I made the faux chipboard by cutting poster board and used multi-medium to adhere them together. I love how it turned out! I used Sweet Pea by The Paper Studio paper stack....yummy colors! It is a boy but I didn't want to make it totally boyish since they can be wrong sometimes. Baby isn't due until July 14th!

Here is my creation for A Compendium of Curiosities 2 Challenge that is being run by Linda at http://studiol3.blogspot.com/ This is my tag that I made from page 66 of Compendium of Curiosities 2 book by Tim Holtz. It is a great inspiring Volume 2 that he has come up with. What is awesome is that the sponsor, www.simonsaysstamp.com , is giving away a gift certificate to boot!

New item for my Etsy Shop

I decided to make another piece of easel art for my etsy shop. I have utilized many of the techniques that I learned from Tim Holtz's Chemistry 101 online class. The numbers 7 and 13 both have stigmas of good luck and bad luck. The sentiment of Encourage your hopes not your fears rings true since I have committed to going out on this etsy "limb." I am going to be doing a craft show in the Cleveland area in July so that I can get out there. I do love creating so this gives me an excuse for being in my "BlueRoom" "inking" all the time! If you know of anyone that would enjoy my art please send them to my shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/BlueRoomInk.

I had to improvise since I didn't have the die cut so I stamped one of Tim's bird stamps on grunge board and hand cut it out and used the branch from the holly branch die cut for the branch on the tag. I mixed a brown regular embossing powder with black distress embossing powder for the limb. Having no crown I added a metal flower to the bird's neck. I used tiny paper clips to hold the twine on that holds the destiny tag. I think it all works.

Chemistry 101 Day 10

Oh, I am so sad that this is the last day of online classes with Tim Holtz. I loved every day learning some new things about all of the products that I have. I will use these techniques on projects that I am making for personal use as well as for my etsy store.

Word Collage

I used the word collage cartridge and mini markers instead of a cutting blade and colored the words with copic markers. I embossed using a script embossing folder. I hope to be opening an etsy shop soon and planning on trying to sell some of my crafting art! I love making it and would love to share it with others.

Engagement!

Okay! My youngest was married this past August, now my oldest just got engaged! Woo Hoo! Here we go all over again! I made them an engagement card and will take it to them tonight as we are off to visit them. The wedding probably won't be until the summer of 2013 so at least we have some time. I used Sweethearts cartridge to cut out the couple and heart balloons but the congratulations came from Birthday Bash. I made a matching envelope using my Martha Stewart Scoring Board.

12 Tags of 2012/February

I am a little late but I completed my tag. I adhered it to a piece of cork board and used the Tim Holtz little easel to stand it up. I really like how it turned out. I do not have the valentine stamps that Tim used so I made due with what I had. Of course it is symbolic for the "the key to my heart."

Baby theme!

Yup! I am going to be a grandma this coming July! Woo Hoo! So therefore, I am in the baby theme mood. Here are a couple easel arts that I created. I love using my chromes markers to write instead of cut. I used word collage cartridge. I am not sure why you cut from this cartridge at all.....but I like writing with it. We shall find out if it is a girl or boy in March!

In-law vintage photo book

I just got back from a weekend crop and managed to get some vintage photgraphs of my husband's family in a small book. We recently just sold my mother-in-law's house and upon cleaning it out we found these photos of my husband's family. I used the 7 gypsies book covers and tried my new Tim Holtz mover and shaper broque die. I was a little off center so I just cut down the book so that it looked more centered. I found these 7 gypsy book rings at 75% off! I love how they have words on them but found that you need to punch a bigger hole than a standard punch makes to have the pages fit properly. I used Tim Holtz paper stash for the pages and embellished with his swivel chains, umbrella man die, as well as the clock die. I used his paper distresser to distress the edges of the paper and then distress inks to color them. I hope to add more pages to the book but I love how it is turning out so far.
