I am soooooo busy!!!!!!!

Whoa! I am soooo tired! I have so much going on right now it is just crazy! My son is getting married this August and his fiance's father's church, yes, he is an associate pastor, put on a lovely shower for them at the end of May. Her mom asked if I would make a tri-fold board to set behind the cake at the shower and it will also be at the wedding. Well, it became the largest layout that I have ever made! Everyone loved it and I was pretty happy with how it turned out. I used an EK success punch to make the lacey dividers. She loves purple and that is the choice for her wedding party so I had to do it up in purples! I used a lot of the cute cut outs using the Sweethearts cartridge. I am also in the midst of having two bathrooms remodeled so I am back to scrapping wallpaper that seems to be soaked into the drywall and has become one!!!!! The guys will be coming in a couple weeks so I have to get the paper down before the tear everything out. I also am making the favor boxes for the wedding. I have 204 made so far. I need to make as many as 400! So needless to say.....I have been busy! I miss my blogging world!

Perfect Pearls and Copic Markers

Something was bothering me about the cover of my recent book that I made. I had used a mask before applying my distress inks and the color of the grunge showed through. I decided to color in the mask using my copic markers and then I sprayed the entire cover with a teal colored perfect pearl mix. The sparkle is subtle and I love how it turned out. I posted the before and after to show you the difference.

Home from the Scrap Get-away 4 day weekend!

Wow! What a great time we all had in Sugarcreek, Ohio. I attended a four day scrap get-away. This was the first time that she held a four day crop. They are usually only three days. Well, it was well worth the extra day! Since I am making the favor boxes for my son's wedding I used this time to cut at least 351 boxes using Tags Bags and More cartridge. They are ready to be assembled. My cricut was humming the entire time. I never had to change the blade and I multi-cut 2 times to be sure of a clean cut. I used the 12 x 24 mat and was able to cut six boxes out in one cut. We are inviting around 400 but I don't think that many will show. Therefore, I thought that 351 was a good number to stop at until the rsvp results come in in July. They are going to fill these boxes with pastel M&Ms. I went to Hollo's paper store to buy paper in bulk. I only could get 8 1/2 x 11 in a purple marble. There was no 12 x 12 in her color of purple! This is as close to the purple that I can get but that is no problem because she loves all purples! A few friends have offered to come and help put the boxes together. It is something that I can do while watching TV with my husband. I also am posting some of the fun layouts that I made along with a Tim Holtz product book that I threw together the last night. The papers are from his new paper stack called Crowded Attic. I used sticky back canvas on the front cover. I really like this product and will use it again and again. I will probably add more photos or journal in it but I thought I would share it with you for now anyway. Now to get some much needed rest! I don't sleep much while on a crop get-away. I don't like wasting scrap time by sleeping! Ha!

Easter!

I thought I would make some Easter boxes and filled them with paper grass that I bought at Target and candy of course! I used Tags, Bags and More cartridge. I cut the handle box the biggest that would fit on a 12 x 12 paper. I made two cuts. One out of a pastel cardstock and then one from Easter paper. I glued them together, tied ribbon in the holes on the sides and added a tag. I welded the letters together on my kids' baskets using lyrical letter cartridge. I simply glued their names on a darker shade of cardstock for contrast. I used the "popcorn" style box for my husband and some nieces and their husband/fiance and the "cup" box for the Grandmas and my sister's box. The tissue paper added some flair and I filled them with all kinds of goodies!

Shower Card

I made this shower card for my future daughter-in-law tonight. I am not sure if I will wait until the the shower to give it to her or I might send it to her to let her know just how thrilled I am that my son has chosen her to be his wife! I cut the dress out using Wedding cartridge at 3 3/4 inches. I had the stamp that I think I got in the dollar bin at Michaels. I cut it out along the outside line. I used pop dots for the stamp and the dress. I love the glitter outer layer of the dress. Her color is purple so I embossed the overlay after I had adhered it to the black 5 1/2 x 4 inch card using Darice's new hearts embossing folder. (I bought it at Pat Catans). I then sanded it to have the white core come out in the hearts. The inside is debossed and I like how it looks. I added some extra hearts that were actually scrolls that were punched out in a box that I made. I thought that they looked like hearts so I put them to use and glued them in the corners.

Wedding Cartridge

I am still playing with the Wedding cartridge and having fun with it. Here is a cute "just married" car. I cut it at 5 inches. I discovered that there is more to the boxes that I had made in my earlier posts. I am going to add some layers that I was unaware of and will post them. It should make a big difference in how they look. I talked with my future daughter-in-law tonight and we are toying with making these boxes for favors. The only problem is....I will have to make between 300-400! That is a lot of cuts and a lot of adhesive! I have figured out on my gypsy how to cut a ton out on the 12 x 24 mat but the challenge is finding the paper in bulk. I will go to my store in Brunswick and I can buy 12 x 12 paper by the pound which is much more economical. Let's just hope that they have the right color of purple! In the mean time....I am having fun cutting out different things on this cartridge!

Decorative Bride and Groom

I made these oversized bride and grooms using Stretch Your Imagination cartridge. I believe they were cut at 10.5 inches. I layered them differently to get two different looks. I took the picture with my gypsy so that you could see how large they are. They will be nice "extra" decorations at my son's wedding. I think they turned out super cute!

A Wedding Card

I used Stretch Your Imagination to cut this card out at 5.5 inches. I used coordinations purple for the frame and a pearlescence purple for the background of the bride and groom. The stamp was just from my stash. I am just experimenting with the cartridges that I have.

Another box

I am not sure how to add this ribbon to this box from Wedding cartridge. It has 2 holes on the side so I made a handle. I am not sure that I like this or not. I then tied the ribbon to give it a different look. This was cut at 6 inches. It is a bit tricky to put together but would make a cute favor box. It would take quite some time to make a lot though.
