Inspiration Emporium...Go Fly a Kite challenge for August

Inspiration Emporium http://blog.inspirationemporium.com/?cat=18 is having a Go Fly a Kite challenge for a chance to win $50 in Emporium Dollars.  I flew many a kite as a young girl and have fond memories of hot summer days in my backyard flying the highest of all kites and for the longest time. I had fun with this one....attaching tissue tape for the tail of the kite and making a spool out of two brads to wind the black string around that is in the little girl's hand.  The ribbon has a brad in the center to make it appear as being the sun.  I stamped on specialty paper and embossed it to make the kite then sprayed it with various ink sprays that I made with my re-inkers and perfect pearls. The background of the tag is sprayed with the re-inkers and perfect pearl sprays too.  I then used walnut stain distress stain to blend the colors together.  The "k" has been stained with broken china distress stain.  This was a fun tag to make!

Tags of 2012....August

Here is my entry to the Tim Holtz tags of 2012 for August.  This one took awhile to make....I struggle with the roses but I am happy with how it turned out.  Check out tim's blog at Timholtz.com  I used what I had to try to make it look somewhat like the one he did on his blog http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2012-august/.     It's fun to improvise.

Compendium of Curiosities 2, Challenge 18

Here is my entry into Sudio L3's (http://studiol3.blogspot.co.uk) Compendium of Curiosities 2, Challenge 18 which is from Tim Holtz's book.  This is Whitewash stamping and is a cool technique.  You will have to buy the book to learn how to do this technique out of respect to Tim.  A big thank you goes out to Funkie Junkie Boutique for sponsoring this challenge with a $25.00 shopping spree to the winner at http://www.zibbet.com/TheFunkieJunkie.

Thinking of You Card

Here is a cute little "thinking of you" card that I made for a friend of mine that is recuperating after surgery.  I just got this stamp from JoAnn.com when they were 50% off with free shipping.  I love the detail in the dandelion!

Simon Says Stamp and Show Favorite Technique Challenge

Here is one of my favorite techniques, clear embossing after stamping with distress ink.   I am entering it in the challenge at http://simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.co.uk/  I like how the image jumps off the page after being embossed and the texture is to "dye" for! (HA!)  A special thank you to www.simonsaysstamp.com for putting on this challenge!

CC2C #17 Challenge and Simon Says Stamp Favorite Technique Challenge / My Daughter's 30th Birthday Card

My oldest is turning 30!  So I made this tri-fold card for her.  I am entering it in Linda's challenge at http://studiol3.blogspot.co.uk/.  The base is Core'Dinations paper. The technique is from A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. 2 by Tim Holtz.   I included all the important numbers on the card, 30 her age, 82 the year she was born, 17 being the date in August that is her birthday and the clock is set to the time that she was born, 3:39 A.M.  A big thank you to the sponsor www.simonsaysstamp.com
I am also entering this in the www.simonsaysstamp.com favorite technique challenge.  I love using Core'Dinations and embossing and distressing.

August Challenge

Here is my August challenge entry for Chemistry 101....Spritz and Flick....Back to basics....Love this technique.  The piece is only 5 1/4 x 5 3/4.  I used Hero Arts stamp (tree trunks) for the large trees.  I used the Viridian archival ink that I had won from Barb Poole in the Chemistry 101 July challenge. The bird and pine cone branch is a stamp by Magenta.  The other one that is really giving off snowflakes is by Penny Black. (I figured it could look like leaves coming off as well.)   I ordered these stamps from JoAnn.com when they were 50% off and free shipping!  Of course I used Tim Holtz's chit chat words for the sentiment.
