Throwback Thursday Challenge with Emma

Well, it is Sunday evening and I finally finished my Throwback Thursday Challenge for Emma's blog http://www.mycreativetime.com/. My friend and I took a trip to Florida and went to Buca di Beppo for dinner where we actually sat in the kitchen to eat! She kept saying it was my birthday when actually it was closer to her just passed birthday! So we both celebrated our birthdays "just because we could!" It was a good time. I used Doodlecharms cartridge to cut out the birthday hats and the 3 hat toppers that I just added to the bottom of the right hand page. I did pop up the hats and tops with pop dots. I added some cross stitch floss for the elastic part. I used stickles to add some sparkle to the hats. The 12 x 12 pages are from DCWV The Doodlin Around stack For All Year Round. This is a very fun stack! It is very colorful different.

5K race

Well, I am going to run another race tomorrow morning with my daughter and her boyfriend. It is a 5K. It is a woodland race and suppose to be very pretty through some trails in the woods and not constantly on concrete. I have been training for a half marathon and had a bit of trouble with my ankles hurting so I have not run in about 10 days to rest them. I hope I have the stamina tomorrow! I have swam laps to try and stay conditioned but we shall see! Wish me luck! Time is not important to me....just finishing what I started is.

Lemon Card

Well, now I am chuckling again. I looked at my lemon card today and I wondered why I didn't make the main part of the card green so that when I stamped the lemons they would have been on yellow cardstock! It looks like I stamped out limes!!!! Ha ha! I guess I got so focused on the open windows being the right size and all that I didn't notice the color. Oh well, I can always make another one.
I figured out how to make a slide show so now you can see all my posts as of 6-25-10. I am pretty proud of myself for learning all of these blog tricks! :)....

I tried making a tri-fold card. It is 5 inches x 12 inches. I used threading water for the border punch. I used a piece of yellow cardstock for the main part of the card and a pearlescence green for the underneath color and the main stamp which I popped up using pop dots. I stamped the lemon slices inside the 1 inch circle punch outs. I was a little frustrated that the fiskars 1 inch punch that I used didn't go deeper from the border side so I entered it from the sides instead. Today I purchased the new Everywhere on your Page punches by Fiskars. The unit is held together by magnets but the punches were 2 inches which were too big for this project. I think that is a great idea! The only downfall is they can be pain to store since there is a universal adapter that holds all the various punches so you are looking at four parts to make the one punch. I like being able to create a window whereever I like on a 12 x 12 page though. I bought them at JoAnns because they are currently 60% off!!! Great deal!

Nephew's Birthday Card

I had to try Flourish out on my niece's husband's birthday card. I like how it layers. It is very simple to figure out. I whipped this card up pretty quickly. I just used my scraps and on the inside I stamped with a couple of Fiskars sentiment stamps that I bought at JoAnn Fabrics. Enjoy!

Beach Bum Post

Ha Ha!!!! I just saw that I have a typo in my sentiment with the Beach Bum card! I will have to fix it tomorrow! That is what I get for scrapping when I am tired!! :)

Beach Bums

I finally bought Everyday Paperdolls at Big Lots for only $30.00. I couldn't pass up the bargain. I never thought I would want this cartridge but it offers a lot more than just the paper dolls. I was just fooling around with it and created this silly card. I used 3D foam squares to pop the grass, clouds and dolls up. It gives it more dimension that way for sure. My sentiment, To beach or not to beach....that is the question is a play on the quote...."To be or not to be...that is the question." This could be a card asking someone to go to the beach with them...enjoy!

My Friend's Birthday Card

Well, it is my "scrapping" friend's birthday and I just had to make her a card. She is the one that would appreciate my efforts more than a non-scrapper. The card is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 folded. I used Create a Critter to cut the bird. I think he is so cute! I used a shiny cardstock that is brownish/gray in color for the shadow instead of black. It blended with my flowered cardstock that I used as my overlay. The overlay is Daisy Stripes by Sandylion Sticker Designs. (www.sandylioncom). I think I bought it as loose cardstock at Hobby Lobby. I used See d's stamp for the Happy Birthday sentiment. I used the Big and Juicy Hydrangea (pink side) ink pad to stamp it. I don't know where I got the shiny brownish/gray cardstock from. It is in my supply of 12 x 12 cardstock. I would like to find this cardstock again because I really love it. It may have come from Hollos Paper Store in Brunswick, Ohio. I stamped a little bird and smiles on the envelope using Hero Arts stamps that I bought at Archivers Store. I added a pink sparkley gem to his eye. I just used used 8 1/2 x 11 inch cardstock in fusia and light pink to cut the bird. I ran the bird, bird's wing and flower through the cuttlebug using the Victoria A2 folder. I like the dimension it gave the bird. I used Black Diamond Stickles for his eye and Fruit Punch Stickles on the wing and flower. I like to line my inside with a coordinating color cutting it at 5 1/4 x 8 1/4. I stamped in brown the message using Fiskars Make a Wish Quotes clear stamps that I bought at JoAnn Etc.

My Aunt's 90th Birthday Card

I decided to make my Aunt's 90th birthday card. It is quite a huge celebration when you turn 90! Her family is having a big birthday party for her this Saturday. I used some glitter/shiny cardstock for the base and paper from KC&Co for the next 2 layers. I accidently tore the top of the flowered layer so I tied a ribbon across it to cover up my mistake! I found my rub on was difficult to rub on this textured/glittered flower layer. I had to improvise with a marker where it simply would not rub on. I had the cherish sticker so I just used it. The 90th also are clear stickers. I am sure she will appreciate my efforts.

My Aunt's 90th Birthday

We received an invititation to my Aunt's 90th birthday party. On the invitation it read,"In lieu of gifts please bring something for her scrapbook." Well, needless to say, I was happy about that! So I put my mind to work and came up with this. The main background picture is of my father (my aunt's brother) and mother when they were 24 yrs. old on a boat on a lake. The text says it all. I put the last known full family photo in the upper right hand corner from 2001. My father passed away in 2003. The kids have grown since then but it includes everyone. I listed their names so that she would have a record of the expanding family! I used GluGlider Pro High Tac to adhere it to a 12 x 12 piece of Inque boutique cardstock. I am quite happy with how it turned out. If you double click on the photo it enlarges and you can see the colors more accurately. I just hope she has a 12 x 12 scrapbook!

Learning how to add to your blog

Well, I have finally figured out how to add a background and a fancy header! Yeah! I have also figured out how to acquire buttons!!!! Now I am not feeling as "green" as before with my blog. If only I could figure out how to make a blinkie. That is my next goal within the blogging world... :)
